Meet Our Instructors...

Eliza Jacques

Boston area cellist Eliza Jacques is an active performer and advocate of chamber music, specializing in music of the 20th and 21st centuries.  She has been the cellist of the Ludovico Ensemble for four years, and served as its Artistic Director for two seasons.  She has performed with Guerilla Opera, the Arbelos Trio, the Proletariat Tanning Salon, and Anna Myer and Dancers.  Eliza has taught private cello lessons for over ten years, and was a member of the string faculty at South Shore Conservatory in 2003-04.  She has studied cello pedagogy at Indiana University and the Ithaca College Suzuki Institute. 

A native of the Boston area, Eliza began studying cello at age five, and performed with youth orchestras at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School and the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras throughout grade school. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree and a Performer Diploma from the Indiana University School of Music, where she was a recipient of the Eva Heinitz Scholarship, and her Master of Music Degree from The Boston Conservatory, where she was a member of the Honors String Quartet and a winner of the String Idol contest. Her primary teachers include Andrew Mark, Rhonda Rider, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, and Helga Winold.
